Salmon ATM Singapore
Salmon ATM Singapore

Two persons from Norway started out on an idea to create vending machines for selling farmed Norwegian Salmon. In 2018 they started to put things into motion. Initial launch would be in Singapore.

More details  you can find on

As a customer, you can use this vending machine to purchase two pieces of frozen salmon 0f 200 grams. Sounds unbelievable but it is true.

Hence, I wanted to know how this could work and tested it myself during my last trip to Singapore.

Please watch the video below. I am sure you will find it interesting as well as entertaining. Trust me 🙂

The company is mentioning on their homepage that they will have over 100 locations throughout Singapore soon.

But what we are most interested in is to hear from you:

  1. Do you know of any other city where such types of vending machines are installed for purchasing frozen fish?
  2. What do you think, will customers appreciate this new sales channel for frozen fish?

I am curious to hear what you think.

Nice video… I had to smile.
    Two questions I have, namely:

    1. do you know how many vending machines the company uses in Singapore or elsewhere as well?
    2. Do you think such machines for different kinds of fish will become widely used? To illustrate, can you imagine that such vending machines will be used in Japan for the Hiramasa Kingfish (Seriola lalandi).

    Thanks for sharing.

    1. Dear Urs

      Thanks for your comment.
Regarding your questions i have the following answers.

1.They are planning to have 100 vending machines in total
2.The idea to offer frozen fish in vending machines is great. But it depends if the customer really wants to change their behavior to buy fish outside super markets or at the fish market.

What a brilliant idea! By far more promising than the French Fries vending machines from Ueli Maurer….
Am sure that such machines quickly find widespread use – and were also desperately expected in Asian countries!

    1. Dear Adrian

      Thanks for your comment.
I can just agree that the idea is great. But let’s see if the customer wants to buy fish out of a vending machine.
We will follow the story anyway!
